More Google reviews for tradespeople

Someone looking for a tradesperson lets a stranger into their home and often pays a four-figure sum. Reviews are their main guide. The Spotstar card travels to the customer and takes them to your Google review page at sign-off. Spotstar replies to the reviews and shows what customers value about your work.

Why Google reviews matter for tradespeople

A burst pipe, a new heating system, a bathroom: customers search rarely and do not know how to recognise good work in advance. So they read reviews and look for punctuality, tidiness and whether the final price matched the quote.

Trade businesses have few but large jobs. Every happy customer is worth a review, yet hardly anyone asks, because the job is finished and the next one is waiting. An invoice in the post reminds the customer of the price and not of the good work.

Where the card is used in the trades

The trades have no counter. The card goes to the customer.

  1. 1

    At sign-off

The work is done, the customer sees the result and signs. The fitter holds out the card. That is when satisfaction is at its highest.

  2. 2

In the van or the tool bag

Every fitter or crew has their own card. Your dashboard shows which card is used how often.

  3. 3

    In the office or showroom

For businesses with a shop, a bathroom showroom or a workshop reception.

  4. 4

    After emergency call-outs

Someone whose burst pipe was fixed at night is especially grateful. A short remark is enough, without pressure.

What customers of tradespeople write about

Reviews for trade businesses are less about the technical work, which customers can hardly judge, and more about how the job went. Spotstar sorts them by theme.

  • Punctuality and keeping appointments
  • Tidiness on site
  • Quality of the result
  • Price compared with the quote
  • Availability and call-backs
  • Friendliness of the fitters

You can see, for example, whether criticism is about reaching the office rather than the work on site, and which fitters are praised by name.

Example: replying to a review of a trade business

5 of 5 stars

New bathroom in two weeks as promised. The fitters were on time and cleaned up every evening. The price matched the quote exactly.

Reply from the business

Thank you for your trust and for the review. We will pass the praise on to the team. Enjoy your new bathroom. If anything comes up later, we are here for you.

Invented example. Spotstar answers praise right away; by default, replies to criticism only appear after you approve them.

Common questions

We have no shop. Does the card still work?
Yes. The card needs no fixed place. Your fitters carry it and hold it out to the customer at sign-off. You do need a Google Business Profile for your business.
Many of our customers are older. Will they manage?
The card opens the review page as soon as the phone touches it. For older phones there is a QR code on the back. To leave a review the customer needs a Google account, which is already set up on most Android phones.
What if a customer leaves a bad review after a complaint?
The review appears on Google like any other. Spotstar drafts a calm reply that by default only appears after you approve it. Future customers read from it how you handle complaints.
