More Google reviews for hotels

Guests compare hotels on Google Maps before they book, and they call you straight from your Google profile. The Spotstar card at reception takes departing guests to your Google review page. Spotstar replies to the reviews and shows what guests write about rooms, breakfast and reception.

Why Google reviews matter for hotels

Many hotels have hundreds of reviews on booking platforms and only a few on Google. But the Google profile is what appears when someone searches for the hotel by name or looks for a place to stay on the map. From there, the call button and the website lead straight to you, with no commission.

A hotel stay is a bigger decision than a dinner. Guests read more carefully and notice whether the hotel replies to criticism. A calm reply under a bad review shows future guests how you deal with problems.

Where the card goes in a hotel

A hotel has one clear moment: departure. Before that, one or two quiet spots in the building are worth using.

  1. 1

    At reception during check-out

The guest hands back the key and the bill is printing. One sentence from the front desk and the card on the counter are enough.

  2. 2

    In the room

On the desk or next to the guest folder. Guests are undisturbed here and have time.

  3. 3

    In the breakfast room

In many hotels, breakfast is the most praised part of the stay. A card at the buffet or on the table makes use of that.

  4. 4

    At the bar or restaurant

For hotels whose restaurant also draws guests from outside.

What hotel guests write about

Hotel reviews are longer than most and touch several parts of the house. Spotstar separates them by theme.

  • Cleanliness of room and bathroom
  • Bed, quiet and quality of sleep
  • Breakfast
  • Friendliness at reception
  • Location and parking
  • Value for money

You can see, for example, whether noise is only an issue in rooms facing the street, or whether breakfast has gone down better since a change.

Example: replying to a hotel review

3 of 5 stars

A very friendly welcome and a great breakfast. But our room facing the street was loud at night and we slept badly.

Reply from the hotel

Thank you for your feedback and the kind words about our reception and breakfast. We are sorry that you slept badly. The rooms facing the courtyard are much quieter. Let us know when you next book and we will reserve one of them for you.

Invented example. Spotstar answers praise right away; by default, replies to criticism only appear after you approve them.

Common questions

We already have plenty of reviews on Booking.com. Why Google as well?
Reviews on booking platforms are only seen by guests who search there. Your Google profile appears in every search for your hotel and in Google Maps. Spotstar works with Google reviews and does not analyse other platforms.
Who replies to criticism from guests?
Spotstar drafts a calm reply in the tone of your hotel. By default, a reply to criticism only appears after you have approved it. Praise is answered right away.
Can international guests use the card?
Yes. The card opens your hotel's Google review page, and Google shows it in the language the guest has set on their phone.
